Review and moderation rules

These rules explain what you can publish on Pisopedia, how we moderate content and what you can do if you think we got it wrong.

What you can publish

A review tells a first-hand experience: yours, in a home you lived in. Write in your own words, state concrete facts (dates, rent, the flat's condition, how the landlord treated you) and rate honestly.

Reviews can be positive or negative: what we ask is that they are real and respectful.

These rules also apply to questions and answers about buildings: we read them before publication, and those that break the rules are deleted and we let you know.

What does not get published

We reject reviews and replies that:

  • Are fake or written by someone who did not live in the home.
  • Are about a property the author manages or owns, or are written in exchange for a benefit (fake reviews and undisclosed conflicts of interest are prohibited misleading practices).
  • Include other people's personal data: full names, phone numbers, email addresses or documents of the landlord, other tenants or any third party.
  • Contain insults, threats, discrimination or illegal content.
  • Are advertising, spam or content unrelated to the experience in the home.

How we moderate

Every review is read by a person before it is published. We do not use automated means to decide: moderation is human.

If you edit a published review, it goes back to moderation before being shown again.

If we reject a review, we tell you why. You can fix it and resubmit it.

Replies from landlords and agencies

Professionals with a verified claimed property can reply publicly to its reviews. Replies follow these same rules.

How to report content

If you believe a review or a reply is illegal or breaks these rules, write to [email protected] telling us:

  • The specific content and where it is (the link is enough).
  • Why you believe it breaks the law or these rules.
  • Your contact email, so we can reply to you.

What we do with a report

We acknowledge receipt, review the content and decide whether to take it down. We tell you the decision with its reasons, whether we remove it or not.

How to appeal a decision

If you disagree with a moderation decision — as the author or as the reporter — you can appeal it by replying to the same email. A different member of the team will review it.

Consequences of breaking the rules

Besides rejecting or removing the content, we may suspend the account when the breach is serious or repeated, such as publishing fake reviews.
